Camerons Big Ben Pork Bangers ~ 1 lbs pack
Camerons Big Ben Pork Bangers are part of quintessential English feast. The term ‘banger’ is the slang name given to a sausage in Britain.
British sausages are lightly seasoned and contain about 12 to 17 % bread crumb or rusk.
The British Banger has a storied past.
During the war with Germany, Britain had strict rationing on everything including meat. Some enterprising butcher wanted to make his sausages as plump as they were before the war. So he came up with the idea of soaking the bread or rusk in water and then mixing it with the limited amount of meat on hand.
Because he had not thought the process all the way through to cooking… He soon became aware that the water in the product would cause them to explode while frying… This was due to the expansion of the water, thus they became known as BANGERS and have carried that name ever since.
You’ll find that there are many different types of sausages produced in Britain. All basically made from the same recipes… But with different spices for that region of the country. Some are Lincolnshire Sausages, Cumberland Sausages and Glamorganshire Sausages, just to name a few.
